Disassembling The Doll
& Preparing the Limbs for painting

Supply list:

20" Berenguer LaBaby
Small Wire Cutters
Exacto Knife

From my own experience, I know that it is always best to start at the beginning when you try something new. In Reborning you will be much more successful if you build a solid foundation from which to work.

As we all know, it is more difficult to work on smaller things, and by working on a 20” LaBaby, you'll have more surface area and larger pieces to handle more easily and hold onto.  I think you'll really enjoy working on this size baby too.

Most people tend to want to start on a smaller doll just incase they ruin it.  There is very little difference in the cost of a preemie versus a 20" LaBaby, but a big difference when you have completed a full sized baby.  You'll be happy you bought the larger one when you’re done.

Another reason I'd like you to use the 20 inch Berenguer dolls is that the smaller preemie sized dolls are made of a more dense vinyl, and they are a lot different to paint on. The 20 inch dolls are smoother and made of a higher quality vinyl.  They are also more forgiving if you make a mistake, and they are still the most popular Berenguer dolls to sell.  Next to the Berenguer Special Edition dolls, the 20 inch dolls are the nicest to paint on, and perfect for your first few Reborns.

The smaller dolls are more difficult to learn basic skills on too.  Nose holes are also so much smaller on the 16" or 17” dolls and a lot more difficult for a new beginner to start with, without damaging or nicking the vinyl. The finger and toenails are very tiny, and it`s harder to get the perfect detail we are looking for in this work.  If you have trouble painting or completing your very first Reborn, you might tend to think this isn't for you and you can't do it.  If you start off on the right foot you will succeed. Not only that, you'll have more of a realistic sized baby to dress and have fun with.

I really do want you to be successful in
these Reborning Classes.

It's such a wonderful hobby and Art Form, and something you should love doing.

These are the things you will need today.
Remove the doll form the box and undress her.
